The Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo’s 2026 Grand and Reserve Champion market lamb exhibitors were selected on Sunday, April 12 in Conroe, Texas.

Judge Jeff Ripley awarded the title of Grand Champion Market Lamb to Bristol Lira of the Splendora Jr. FFA chapter. As this was Lira’s first time taking home grand champion honors, she reflected on the work it took to reach this milestone.

“I’ve never won grand before, so this is pretty special,” said Lira. “It took a lot of work to win.”

Brooklyn Christopher of Willis FFA also left with a winning banner and buckle. After being selected as Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb, Christopher recalled the moment she shook the judge’s hand and secured her placing.

“I think I blacked out a bit,” Christopher said. “I’ve been showing since I was in sixth grade, and being able to win this title just means the world to me.”

Both exhibitors acknowledged their success was made possible not only by their own hard work, but also by the support and dedication of family and friends.

“My entire family have been such huge supporters during this,” Christopher said. “And I am so glad that they all got to be here on this day.”

Lira and Christopher will return to the fairgrounds for this year’s livestock auction, scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lone Star Convention Center. Of the nearly 75 lambs entered in the show, only 20 will be sold at auction. Buyers and supporters will have the opportunity to bid on the exhibitors’ animals, helping fund future livestock projects, college expenses and other opportunities for youth participants.

The Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo brings families, youth exhibitors, and visitors together for livestock shows, rodeo events, live entertainment, and family-friendly attractions annually. The fun kicked off at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Conroe, Texas on Thursday, April 9 and will conclude on Sunday, April 19.
